As a customer / end user you always want the best router available.
‘Best’ is a matter of definitions. Demands vary between use applications, markets and pricing.
The market offers an enormous amount of products which are designed for different use applications and markets.
Business use of Consumer oriented, Fixed or Mobile, High/Low end, Expandable, Non-Expandable, Global or Local use, Temperature/Shock conditions/Governmental restrictions/HW platform. etc. etc. Some many variables to comply. And then we don’t talk about pricing yet…!
Is there a good reason to develop another router?
Already so many routers have been developed, what does it take to stand out of the crowd?
What can we add to the above use applications and market demands?
Technology is always advancing, no stopping there. So demands gradually shift towards new capabilities. Hence use cases are shifting as well.
As such user demands shift as well.
And isn’t it the obligation of manufacturers to anticipate on upcoming demands? Thinking ahead based on the capabillities of these newest technologies. Making available what the customers don’t even realize yet that they will need in the nearby future. Of course this sounds very arrogant, like we know better than the customer what they need. That is never the case, that we know better. But we have to have functionality in place preparing for the moment that the customers realize they require this.
That is our mission, providing the best possible solution when required. That requires from us to think and act ahead. And therefore we are modest in our marketing efforts. Because very often our offering doesn’t really resonate with many potential customers. We have to wait till customers come to us because they require something that others cannot offer. But we can.
And even more unique. If even we are surprised with a specific requirement that is not existing we are capable of developing it.
Exclusively for this customer/use case or as an extension to our functionality so many other existing customers can use it if we see an opportunity for this as well. But always in mutual cooperation where the customer requirement is leading.
What we think is important for customers are:
- show realtime information
- distinguish between traffic for different authorization levels
- offer ease-of-use management to select functionality based on service packages
- extendible router-os through service packages
- profiles allowing for functionality selection in communications, authorization and services (user profiles)
- traffic shaping based on bandwidths (very fair access policy)
- filtering of specific applications (L7) by user profiles to free up bandwidth for specific traffic
- (perhaps in the future: routing of these L7 filtered applications to specific high bw. links)
and yes
- typical router functionality
- load balancing, seamless load balancing
- supreme bonding technology with by far highest bw. efficiency
- supports any mobile technology: any satellite technology, cellular (3G, 4G and 5G), WiFi (WAN & LAN)
- Multiple Gb ETH ports per router
- Free to assign LAN & WAN ports
This all comes in physical ‘packages’ (i.e. HW) designed to do its job in the most extreme conditions you can imagine. Apart from standards like 19″ rack, multiple PSU’s, extreme temperator ranges, IP ratings etc. if our customers have demands in the physical shape or colours of the routers we are capable of producing in numbers for these demands.
So going back to the original question in the header, we don’t know if we deserve that title.
We don’t know your demands if you don’t talk with us.
Reach out to us about your projects where you require some ‘non-standard’ engineering in HW or SW and most probably we find a way to collaborate. After all we learn from our customers and hopefully you will learn from us as well.
